United Water making repairs to water main at 4th & Adams

UPDATE (11:30am): The water main is back in service.

United Water crews are on the scene to make repairs to a broken 8″ water main near 325 Adams Street. The broken main has been shut down, and as a result, the 300 block of Adams Street will be without water service during repairs. Water service is expected to be restored by early afternoon. Adams Street is closed to traffic from 3rd Street to 4th Street. Vehicles in the immediate area of the break were towed to prevent damage to the vehicles; vehicle owners will not be charged for tows.

The City thanks the Police Department, Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management, and Environmental Services for their quick response to the situation.

Mayor Zimmer Selected for President Obama’s Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience

In recognition of the City of Hoboken’s leadership in preparing for the impacts of climate change, Mayor Dawn Zimmer was selected today as a member of President Obama’s Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience to advise the Administration on how the Federal Government can respond to the needs of communities nationwide that are dealing with extreme weather and other climate impacts.

“One year ago, our community experienced the kind of disaster that will become more and more frequent as a result of climate change,” said Mayor Dawn Zimmer. “I am honored to be a part of this initiative and look forward to sharing our experiences and lessons to help make communities nation-wide more resilient.“

President Obama established the Task Force today as part of his Climate Action Plan to cut carbon pollution, prepare communities for the impacts of climate change that cannot be avoided, and lead international efforts to address this global challenge. Mayor Zimmer will use her first-hand experience in addressing local climate impacts to inform the Task Force’s recommendations to the President and ensure they are responsive to the needs of places like Hoboken.
