Parking Meters City-Wide In Effect

Effective Monday, February 25, enforcement has resumed at all parking meters city-wide. All meters should be operational and accepting credit cards (please report any problems through or the Hoboken 311 iPhone/Android app). As a reminder, motorcycles and scooters can park for free on streets with multispace meters.

Hoboken Hurricane Resource Center Open House for Volunteers

The City of Hoboken is looking for volunteers to help staff Hoboken’s new Hurricane Resource Center (HRC) with short shifts. Join us for an opportunity to learn about volunteering and about long term recovery efforts in Hoboken and Hudson County.

Public Invited to Legion Park & Elysian Park Community Meetings

The City of Hoboken will host a community meeting on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 to solicit input from the public on Phase 2 of improvements to Legion Park, a pocket park located at 1225 Willow Avenue. The meeting will take place from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Fox Hill Gardens community room, located at 311 13th Street. Phase 1 of improvements to Legion Park were completed in April, 2012 and included new playground equipment and safety surface as part of a city-wide parks improvement project.

City of Hoboken to Host Sandy Recovery Community Meeting for Businesses and Residents

The City of Hoboken will host a community meeting on Tuesday, February 19 at the Hoboken High School auditorium to provide important recovery information for the Hoboken community. A session for businesses will take place at 5pm followed by a session for residents at 7pm.

Hoboken Police to Conduct D.W.I. Checkpoint

The Hoboken Police Department’s Traffic Bureau will be conducting a D.W.I. checkpoint on Saturday February 23, 2013. The location of the checkpoint will be on Willow Avenue (southbound) at 16th Street. The approximate hours of operation will be from 12:00 a.m. until 4:00 a.m.

Alternate Side Parking & Garbage Pickup Resumes

In order to allow plows to clear as much snow as possible from parking lanes, enforcement of alternate side parking rules will resume on Monday, February 11.

Vehicles may resume parking along emergency snow routes. Parking rules are in effect, including parking meters.

The regular recycling and garbage pickup schedule is in effect. Pickup will take place on Sunday night.

Blizzard Warning & Discounted Garage Parking

UPDATE (3:30pm 2/8/13): There will be no garbage pickup tonight (Friday, February 8). Please DO NOT place any garbage out on the curb. The City will open an Emergency Operations Center at 4pm. To report any non-emergency issues or for any questions, call 201-239-6647.
UPDATE (12:30pm 2/8/13): All basketball games and practices are cancelled for today and tomorrow at Demarest, Wallace and the Multi Service Center.

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for our area which is in effect from Friday 6:00am through Saturday 1:00pm. Damaging winds and snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches with localized higher amounts are possible.

Mayor Zimmer Announces New Director of Transportation & Parking, Permanent Construction Official

Mayor Dawn Zimmer announced that she has hired John Morgan to serve as Director of the Department of Transportation and Parking and appointed Mario Patruno as Construction Official.

Mr. Morgan’s prior experience includes establishing the Department of Parking Services in Westfield, NJ, where he served as director. He has also served on the Union County Transportation Advisory Board. His resume is available on the City website.
